Mrs. Susan Moore received a BA degree from Penn State University and a MAT (Master’s in Teaching) from Trenton State College. Over the years, Mrs. Moore has taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grade. Before having children she taught at Sickles School in Fair Haven for a decade. During this time she received training in DI (Differentiated Instruction) which helped her develop lessons that appeal to all levels of learners. At St. Ambrose teachers are privileged to have ixl.com available to help facilitate differentiated instruction as well. Mrs. Moore also uses leveled learning centers and Newsela (articles to read on the same topic, but at different reading levels) to accommodate all students. As an ELA (Language Arts) teacher Mrs. Moore coordinates some STEM instruction by occasionally writing about experiments. For example, classes have completed experiments on pollination, written stories about how seeds travel, and written summaries on the process of pollination. One of our PBL’s (Project Based Learning) units was a month-long study on pollination.
Students often work in partners or groups to promote cooperative learning relationships. Students learn to work with others to solve problems and answer questions. We use MAP testing at St. Ambrose to set individual & class goals. We set our students up for success with thoughtful essential questions posed before units of study so that expectations are clear to students to promote success. We are as invested in the development of children as anyone in education should be.
Mrs. Moore is a mother of two wonderful children and spends a lot of time cheering them on at sporting events.
